The legend I speak of is none other than:
Vincent Price made his first movie debut in 1938 he played in many minor movie roles but his first success was in the movie The Fall of the House of Usher (1960) which i think was such a great gothic, eerie and well directed movie. He played in many more movies but i think my top two would be:
1. House on the Haunted Hill(1959)
2.House of Wax(1953)
I absolutely loved both movies but i have to say the house of wax remake with Paris Hilton was a big BLUNDER even though i did secretly enjoy watching Paris get killed and admit rewinding that scene a couple of times, like i always say just stick to the classics i mean there that for a reason!
In any-case Price was well known for his distinct, eerie and low-pitched voice. Which is why he was picked to be the voice in Michael Jackson's worldwide known song "Thriller", the song already was pretty scary in itself but I think Vincent Price's voice and laugh at the end of the song put it over the edge.
Although I only picked two of his movies as my all time favorites I believe ALL of his movies are wonderful cinematic creations and if you haven't watched a Vincent Price movie yet then i suggest you come out from under that rock and do so because these movies are the ones that have propelled the Horror genre to what it is today.
So HAPPY BIRTHDAY VINCENT PRICE and May your Soul Rest in Eternal Peace!

Hey Pixie! I just finished watching House on Haunted Hill. It's my favorite Vincent Price movie. I've seen it countless times and it seriously still makes me laugh so much I cry in parts! So silly.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised to see the photo you posted of Vincent without his mustache. That's something you don't see too often!
While my favorite V.P. movie is The Abominable Dr. Phibes, I'd also recommend checking out Tower of London. While its less horror than medieval political intrigue, it is thrilling to see Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, and Basil Rathbone sharing the screen. V.P.'s duel by wine with Rathbone is the highlight of the film.
ReplyDeleteHey Justine! yea i know right I actually rewatched both movies i mentioned above and just LOVED them!!..I thought it would be cool to find a picture of him without a beard cause i only ever remembered him with it, and honestly he looks soooo different..i think the beard adds a lot of character and a certain je ne sais quoi, its just badass haha
ReplyDeleteHey Marvin! :) thanks I will DEFINITELY check out Tower of London soon, cause I have never watched it and it sounds like it could be awesome...will get back to you on what i think once i do :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I definitely like him better with some facial hair! I'm not sure if it's just that I'm used to him that way, but I think it's an improvement!
