Upcoming Horror movies in May 2013

10 May 2013

An American tourist in Chile and his newfound friends face a grueling fight for survival following a massive earthquake in this harrowing disaster film starring and co-written by Eli Roth (who penned the screenplay alongside Guillermo Amoedo and director Nicolas Lopez). Good-natured Gringo (Roth) and his two Chilean pals Ariel (Ariel Levy) and Pollo (Nicolas Martinez) are looking to hook up with some ladies when they happen across gorgeous Russian model Irina (Natasha Yarovenko) hard-partying Kylie (Lorenza Izzo), and Kylie's straight-laced older sister Monica (Andrea Osvart), who agree to join them for an impromptu trip to Valparaiso. But the following night, as the music blares and the club gets jumping, the ground starts to crumble beneath their feet. With chaos in the air and Ariel seriously injured, everyone tries to keep their cool while seeking help for their friend. Little do they realize that this is the beginning of a nightmare from which no one can wake up, and when the inmates escape from a local prison and begin flooding into the streets, the initial shock turns to outright terror as roving gangs of convicts begin to rape, rob, and murder at will.

No one lives:
A ruthless criminal gang takes a young couple hostage and goes to ground in an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere. When the captive girl is killed, the tables are unexpectedly turned. The gang finds itself outsmarted by an urbane and seasoned killer determined to ensure that no one lives.

Black Rock:
Three childhood friends set aside their personal issues and reunite for a girls' weekend on a remote island off the coast of Maine. One wrong move turns their weekend getaway into a deadly fight for survival.

Dark Circles:
When new parents Alex and Penny retreat from the city and move into a place outside town, the stress and massive sleep-deprivation caused by their infant has both of them seeing things in the house that may or may not exist. Persistent sightings of a strange woman has each of them wondering if they are suffering from hallucinations, or if their new home holds a dark, supernatural presence. As their fragile grasp on reality spirals into delirium, Alex and Penny find themselves nearly helpless to deal with the horrific truth of what is really going on in this house.

Alyce Kills:
Wracked with guilt after accidentally knocking her best friend off of a roof, tormented Echo Park, L.A., resident Alyce (Jade Dornfeld) stumbles into a self-destructive cyclone of hard drugs, dangerous sex, and senseless violence. The further Alyce drifts away from reality, the greater the risk grows to everyone around her.

31 May 2013

American Mary:
The story of a medical student named Mary who is growing increasingly broke and disenchanted with medical school and the established doctors she once idolized. The allure of easy money sends a desperate Mary through the messy world of underground surgeries which leaves more marks on her than the so-called freakish clientele.

The Purge:
If on one night every year, you could commit any crime without facing consequences, what would you do? In The Purge, a speculative thriller that follows one family over the course of a single night, four people will be tested to see how far they will go to protect themselves when the vicious outside world breaks into their home. In an America wracked by crime and overcrowded prisons, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity—including murder—becomes legal. The police can't be called. Hospitals suspend help. It's one night when the citizenry regulates itself without thought of punishment. On this night plagued by violence and an epidemic of crime, one family wrestles with the decision of who they will become when a stranger comes knocking.

Chilling visions: 5 senses of fear:
5 short chilling films about the human senses.

Well thats what you all can look forward to in May! I'm not one to judge a book by its cover but based on some of these movie posters I am a bit skeptical because many-a-movies have fooled me with their awesomely creepy posters only for the movie to be utter rubbish .

I can say though that I'm EXTREMELY excited to watch The Purge I really hope the movie is as good as the trailer.

If I have left out any upcoming movies let me know in the comment box below and will add them to the list, especially with regards to Indie Horror movies because its much harder to find their release dates online.

Voodoo Crypt

“Pixie I don’t think it’s a good idea for us to be down here”

Sarah had always been the cautious one in the family but I didn’t care, I had to find out what dad kept hidden down here.  Even with 8 of us pushing the door it still proved too difficult to open, after one last shove the door finally budged, it slowly creaked open to reveal nothing but darkness.

Although there was 8 of us the surrounding darkness made me feel like I was all alone, the room was cold, musky and the eeriness was sending chills down my spine.  Darkness always has a way of making my imagination run wild, images of all the horror movies I had ever watched began to replay in my mind, what if Jason was to jump right at me or what if I was to bump into Freddy Krueger and realize that I was in one of his twisted demented dreams..

“I think I found the light switch!!” Abbey yelled interrupting my thoughts…..

So my minions here are the details to my Voodoo Crypt contest:

1.       I would like for you to email me 2 short paragraphs on what you think happens after Abbey switches on the light

2.       Email me your responses to:

3.       Anyone can join this contest, I will read through all the responses and the winning email will be featured in the next installment of Voodoo Crypt

4.       The deadline is 25th of May 2013

Please spread the word of this contest and I’m looking forward to reading all your horrifically delicious and bloody-coated responses

Pieces of me..The Walking Dead (Part3)

Hello my lil horror minions!
Pieces of me is a blogpost series I started where I basically share pages from my sketchbook. In todays post I decided to do a tribute to my favorite horror series The Walking Dead by drawing a Walker, I added a lil twist to my usual Pieces of me posts by showing the process I went through to get to the final product.

Constructive critism will be highly appreciated…

Pieces of Me (Part 2)

Hey there my wonderful horror freaks!

It's been quite a while since my last blogpost but most of you might not know but I'm currently studying in Beijing and being in China means that a helluva lot of websites are blocked here including blogspot, making this extremely hard for me to post things up on a constant basis.

Not to worry though being the lil geek I am i found a way to bypass it, though I'm not sure how long it will last but yea enough of the explanations and back to this post..

So this post is Part 2 of my previous "Pieces of me" post and for those who don't know, I started this post to basically share pages from my sketchbook that i haven't even shown to anybody so without further adieu here is page 2:

Will be putting up another post in a bit with a list of horror movies to look out for in April!

Pieces of me

It's been so long I haven't put up a post that I feel like this is my very first but with a year and half left in college my courses are getting much harder and my assignment load just keeps on piling up so unfortunately this blog had to take a back seat.

On the brighter side though I am back and even though for now I may not be able to update posts on a regular basis I will try my best to squeeze in a post or two once I do get a breather!

I mean nothing is more soothing after being mentally raped by class and exams than blogging!

So not a lot of people know this not even my parents but I really love sketching and just drawing whatever I may come across but I have never actually showed people my sketches, so i decided to start a post called "Pieces of me" where i will basically just be sharing pages from my sketchbooks. Now I am in no shape or form the next Leonardo Da Vinci and some of my sketches are incomplete but I just thought it would be a great way to open up and just show you guys what I do when I should technically be listening to my professor and making study notes.

Enough babbling below is page 1 of further more to come:

So that's about all if you know of any great artistic horror blogs please do let me know so I can follow and procrastinate even more.

So lets dive right into it...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the man that gave me my very first nightmare...Robert Englund aka Freddy Krueger who turned 65 today. WARNING: The next idiot who tries to play Freddy Krueger in another Nightmare on elm street remake and isn't Robert Englund will be shot...and if you so happen to survive you will be shot again!

The Devil Inside

In Italy, a woman becomes involved in a series of unauthorized exorcisms during her mission to discover what happened to her mother, who allegedly murdered three people during her own exorcism.

Director: William Brent Bell

One of the most gruesome forms of execution was Sawing.

In Execution by sawing, the criminal would be hung upside-down and a large saw would be used to cut their body in half, starting with the groin, all the way to the head. Because the person was hanging upside-down, the brain received sufficient blood to keep them alive until the saw finally reached the main blood vessels in the abdomen. In the Asian version of this execution, the victim would stand upright and the sawing would begin at the top of the head.
Some traditions state that the Prophet Isaiah was executed by the saw. It is believed that Saint Paul is making reference to this in his Epistle to the Hebrews 11:37:
They were stoned, they were cut asunder, they were tempted, they were put to death by the sword, they wandered about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being in want, distressed, afflicted.
This method of execution was used in the Middle East, Europe, and parts of Asia. It was also used in the Roman Empire and was considered to be the favorite punishment dished out by Emperor Caligula.

Well that's all for now my horror minions...will try not to get kidnapped again by those damn witches, zombies damnit what did i say before...OH YES lygers!!
